Thursday 30 May 2013: Diakonia organized a Fun Day for children with autism and their families from East Jerusalem at the Princess Basma Jerusalem Center for Disabled Children. Seventy children from the kindergarten of the Princess Basma Jerusalem Center for Disabled Children and children from Al Basma school for Autistic children enjoyed the day. The Fun Day included a cheerful clown show, face painting, inflatable jumping games and colourful balloons.
Through fun activities at the playground of the Princess Basma Jerusalem center in Mount of Olives, children enjoyed themselves and learned through games and the Fozi Mozi clown show from Haifa examples of good behaviour.
Ghada Harami, Deputy Regional manager – Diakonia Middle East Regional office said: “This support from EU has addressed an urgent priority for East Jerusalem Autistic children and their families and has provided the opportunity to train and develop within their context.
There is a lot more work to do and we hope Diakonia can start a second phase for the project soon. Our motivation is to see the children smile and have fun and be happy together with their families and friends”.
